Sorry everyone, a little late with this, this year, but my travels have distracted… So – my first 2016 “concept”, the Mercedes. You’ll note that Petronas still don’t get their preferred colours in my design, but I’ve just spent 3 weeks in Malaysia and I have developed the opinion that Petronas has much bigger worriesContinue reading “2016 Mercedes F1 concept”

Snack Trike, Malacca
Because, after all, what is a bike (or a trike for that matter) without wrought iron?
Boats, Boracay Island
The boats in the Philippine island of Boracay are unusual for their incredibly narrow hulls and double outriggers. Main sails are stretched between two booms and sit at a jaunty elevated angle. This scene was sketched while sitting under the shady palms and sea grapes at The Coco Loco Bar in Station 3.
Small Truck
These trucks proliferate in the narrow streets of the towns and cities of Malaysia. They’re usually Daihatsus and are remarkable for their mix of ruggedness and tiny dimensions.
Last day in Penang…
…and a belated Merry Christmas! Headed off to Kuala Lumpur shortly after drawing this and have been preoccupied with family, preparations for and recovery from Christmas since. This is a view of Lebuh Chulia drawn from the Chulia Court Tavern. Good timing for the sketch, too, when I sat down to draw it was hotContinue reading “Last day in Penang…”
75 Lorong Stewart, Penang
Uniquely for Malaysia, Penang retains names and references to its colonial heritage, thus we have seen Lebuh King (King Street), Lebuh Queen, Lorong Love (Love Lane) and Lebuh Campbell amongst many others. Apparently my lot were quite busy here… even found a “Kopitiam Thomson” in Ipoh. Drew this from a lovely little heritage-styled cafe calledContinue reading “75 Lorong Stewart, Penang”
Old Storefronts, Penang
Sat and had a coffee this morning at a small hotel bar on Lebuh Cintra in Georgetown and sketched these old storefronts across the road. Wish I’d brought watercolours! The colours are brilliant here!
737 in Hong Kong…, No, an A333
A sketch of the plane we took from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur. Drawn from the window at gate 60 while drinking a remarkably expensive latte.
D-Type Concept
Something a little different. This is a not-too-imaginative update of a D-Type, mostly I was working up a slightly different rendering style than is my usual…
British Car (Bike) Day 2015
An old Norton from British car day this year. There’s usually a couple of bikes shown there… I’ve seen some BSAs, Royal Enfields, Triumphs, and of course, this pristine Norton.
