A detail sketch of the Gare du Nord from the patio of “Au Baroudeur Patient” across the road… got the sketch about half done before we had to pay our bill and head off for our train to Burxelles Midi. Finished it in Belgium. 🙂

Doorway, Prague
This is a doorway I sketched whilst my people were exploring a church (there are many in Prague!). I have tried to pinpoint where this is and the best I can do is somewhere around the south east side of “MalostranskĂ© nam”… odd – because if you look it up, it’s 5 or 6 streetsContinue reading “Doorway, Prague”
Paris, ahhh Part 2
Rue Danton… This is a sketch from a pub, across from a pub (as so often happens) – this sketch comes from the Rue Danton, just northwest of the Rue Suger – looking south west. The bloke serving me, (after seeing my sketch) called me “Van Gogh” – I checked my right ear, just toContinue reading “Paris, ahhh Part 2”
Tractor…
This is an “International Harvester “Farmall” I sketched from a trip I took last summer – this was at a charming little farmer’s market just to the northwest of Fort Erie… thought it would make an interesting subject!
Lightweight E-Type
When I arrived in London in 2004, I had ensured that I would have a little more than 3 weeks to settle in prior to my Masters course beginning, in order that I could toddle around and visit places I’d been before as well as discover the new to me. One of my first visitsContinue reading “Lightweight E-Type”
Rothmans Porsche
This was a nice surprise. The pub I used to frequent in London (it was a good pub and very close to the RCA) was called “The Queen’s Arms”, and right across the road from it was a place called “Coy’s of Kensington” which sold classic, exotic and sports cars. One evening I headed outContinue reading “Rothmans Porsche”
Maserati 250F
More from Nick Mason’s Ten Tenths collection… This is a Maserati 250F – I don’t know the exact provenance but these cars were driven in F1 by the likes (amongst many others of Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss. The 250F raced from 1954 until 1960. One of the brilliant things about Ten Tenths collectionContinue reading “Maserati 250F”
Maserati Birdcage (Tipo60/61)
This was supposed to be a quick sketch and render but became a little more complex – but let me start at the beginning. In 2005 I was living in England, and a very close friend of mine was doing some work for Maserati which included going up to the Cotswolds to interview Nick MasonContinue reading “Maserati Birdcage (Tipo60/61)”
Stirling
A belated tribute to one of my favourite drivers. I sketched this from a photo I took at the 2005 Goodwood Festival of speed, at which Stirling Moss piloted his legendary Mercedes 300SLR up the course. Racing is diminished by his passing.
Leuven City Hall
This took me a little longer than expected, but I finally got it done. A tricky piece.
