A 1975 MV Agusta Magni, at “Auto World” in Brussels. My Brother in Law and I spent an enjoyable morning there, touring the collection. We were fortunate in that there was a James Bond Exhibition on at the time, with some of the Bond cars – very cool. My 6 year old niece, Ashley earnedContinue reading “MV Agusta”

1971 Airstream, Blue Mountain
A quick sketch of “Oscar” – a 25′ (guess) Airstream Land Yacht that Evelyn and I booked this past weekend (Hallowe’en). Oscar was parked on a farm on top of Blue Mountain. The weather, as it turned out, was awful – we hit solid cloud (well – fog) at Orangeville and it only got worseContinue reading “1971 Airstream, Blue Mountain”
Rua Agusta, Lisbon
A sketch I did from a Patio in the Rua Agusta in Lisbon. This was nearly 2 years ago, and I never got around to posting it. The subject matter was tricky and took a little longer than most of my sketches because of the complexity of the architecture. Definitely a 2 pint sketch!
Angkor Wat
Apologies for the hiatus between work – I’ve been away and for various reasons was not submitting on the fly. Regardless – Evelyn and I were in Malaysia and Cambodia and I’ll start with the most obvious – a sketch of Angkor Wat. Amazingly impressive, and – being there in the off season it wasContinue reading “Angkor Wat”
Bridge at Ronda (in progress)
A work in progress – as you can see. This one is tricky – again – it’s small – and I don’t want to resort to small (000) brushes but it’s hard not to given the detail in the bridge. I can see that need to increase the arch on the upper left hand sideContinue reading “Bridge at Ronda (in progress)”
Sketch/painting Venice
I’ve ignored paintings since working on a piece of Fernando Alonso winning the European Grand Prix of Valencia in a Ferrari. This seemed to be the perfect subject – and I had all the reference and this painting was going to be GREAT. It wasn’t. I worked and worked. I painted gesso over half theContinue reading “Sketch/painting Venice”
Sintra, Portugal
Another sketch from our recent travels, this one from Sintra, Portugal – a lovely area just north west of Lisbon.
Ronda, Spain
A sketch from our recent trip to Spain. This is a clock tower in the “Plaza Duquesa de parcent” in the eastern part of Ronda. Like most of my sketch subjects it had a comforting proximity to a patio that served beer… 🙂
Leuven
In the same sketchbook (circa 1985) that I found the Tower of London (previous post) I found this – and I find this vastly amusing. I remember staying in this Youth Hostel back in early July of 1985 – I’ve said that it is in “Leuven” – but it was not – it was rural,Continue reading “Leuven”
Old School and new.
When I was 18, I went to Europe – good move, I think – it altered my perceptions and changed my life – but I digress. Even back then, I sketched… and on the left you see a badly aged sketch of the southwest tower of the Tower of London that I recently found inContinue reading “Old School and new.”
