Sketch for possible painting

Sketch for possible painting

I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while – I like the nature of the subject because it is a little more abstract in flavour than what I usually do, in as much as the subject is “closed up” on, showing a detail rather than the whole car and background which would be my usual approach. The flag is going to be tough to achieve a good finish on…

F1 Ferrari concept

Ferrari F1 thomson

Worked this up in Photoshop, working off a 2013 Ferrari. This would never pass today’s rules, obviously – the wheelbase has been shortened considerably, the nose dropped, the overall height of the car lowered… I suppose that this is sort of a blend between the 2013 Ferrari F138 and the 1988 Ferrari F1/88. I had originally intended to do something a little more futuristic, but was perhaps looking a little too much at the 1988 model car…

Sketch and Rendering for “GP Evolved”

GPEv lotus sketch

This is a sketch and rendering that I produced for a fellow blogger who runs a site called “GP Evolved”. It is a site that documents the history of F1 in a race by race fashion, and is really worth a visit. You can visit it at gpevolved.com

LP 400 concept – side

LP 400 concept - side

Countach concept

Countach concept

Keeping on the theme of Lamborghinis, a conceptualized idea of an lp400 update – an idea of what I wish the Countach had become, sans all those bad 80s spoilers, wings and add on body panels…

Indian Grand Prix cartoon (not)

Indian Grand Prix cartoon (not)

Sorry guys – no cartoon this week. For technical reasons, I have been unable to actually watch the race – and I can’t really do a cartoon from reading race reports.

A real pain this is – first F1 race I’ve missed in decades…

The rough and the smooth – The SMOOTH

LP400 smooth thomson

Overlay of the previous drawing. Not perfect – car could be “wider”… still quite happy with the result. Total time spent on both drawings – about 1.25 hours. Reference taken from screen.
